Flower: 1 cm across. It is probably introduced from Tropical America. It is a low growing prickly shrub with very sensitive compound leaves, which close together and droop down when touched. Genus name derived from Greek ‘mimos’(a mimic) and ‘pudica’ means shy, referring to the sensitive leaves. Flowering: September - October.
