It inhabits home gardens and other well wooded areas around habitations, deciduous forests and edges and openings in the semi evergreen and evergreen forests. It is most common in the monsoon and immediate post monsoon, but active throughout the year.
The Common Mormon feeds on nectar and also visits wet patches of soil. Due to its large size and long proboscis, it can feed from flowers with long corolla tubes.
