Oora Habba(Town Festival) is celebrated annually in the countryside of Karnataka.

More than a festival, it is a ritual of pleasing the Gods with festivities to look after the wellbeing of the people.

The festival is celebrated during the early two days of the week(Monday and Tuesday) in which the first day is dedicated to worship the male Gods like Shiva, Rama, Krishna etc., The later day prayers are dedicated to powerful deities like Maramma, Sapalamma, Yallamma...

As a part of the ritual women carry lamps decorated with flowers over their heads to the temples to perform pooja.

Feasting has its own importance in this celebration during the festival. Relatives and friends are invited for the special feasting as a gesture of togetherness and celebration of family values.
